Instructors

Sensei Richard first started his martial arts career in 1976 and attained his Black Belt ten years later at the age of eighteen.  After taking a short break from training, Sensei returned to martial arts trying a variety of styles until finding Chikara Karate in early 1994.

Studying under Sensei Joe Templin (founder of Chikara Karate Studio), it took four years to regain his Black Belt and 9 years later he achieved his current level of 3^rd Dan Black Belt.

In 2003 and 2004 Sensei Richard fought professionally in both boxing and kickboxing, with many great memories such as fighting in front of a world wide audience on Foxtel’s Main Event!

 

 

Sensei Richard holds the following qualifications:

 

         3^rd Dan Black Belt - Shukokai Karate

         Ausport Qualified Level 1 Karate Coach

         Government Licensed Boxing and Kickboxing Instructor

         Level 1 Emergency First Aid.

         Working with Children Check

1997      Shukokai Championships – 1^st Place (Sparring)

1998      Awarded ‘Best Senior Male’ trophy.

1998      Promoted to Black Belt

1999      Awarded ‘Best Senior Student’ trophy.

1999      Promoted to 1^st Dan Black Belt

2002      Promoted to 2^nd Dan Black Belt

2003      Win by 2^nd Round Knock Out – Professional Boxing Debut

2004      Win by Unanimous Points—Professional Kickboxing Debut.

2004      Win by Unanimous Points - Professional Kickboxing.

2005      Shukokai Championships - 3^rd Place Black Belt Open (Sparring)

2007      Promoted to 3^rd Dan Black Belt
